Supports for Other Professions
MPREP- (Multi-Profession Roundtable on Employment and Policy) is a roundtable that aims to help Immigrants professionals (IPs) coming to settle in Canada to develop organizational ability to realize their potential through the utilization of their education, experience and skills.
Although IPs arriving in Canada since 1986 are more highly educated and experienced than the host population and represent the leading edge of migrant workers associated with globalization, they have been locked out of their profession in Ontario and rest of Canada. There is a strong need for these immigrants to have an organization to promote their professional and economic interests, and act as a stronger public voice for them. MPREP aims to be this organization. On June 20, 2009 MPEP held its first meeting at Metro Hall Toronto. Based on the expressed needs of the participants who attended this meeting, MPREP is starting to create a database of immigrants with professional backgrounds
